The Arab Institute in Jerusalem: Guardian of Education and Identity
For more than half a century, the Arab Institute in the city of Jerusalem has stood tall as a fortress of knowledge and dignity, faithfully guarding the national and Islamic identity in the face of the winds of Judaization and marginalization. In a city whose schools are subjected to systematic attempts to erase the identity of its people, the Arab Institute rises with a national and moral role—not merely an educational or instructional one.
In the heart of daily suffering, where the occupation burdens Arab education with restrictions and dictates, the Institute opens its doors to the children of Jerusalem—especially orphans and the needy—granting them not only a chance to learn, but also space to breathe, to remain steadfast on their land, and to carry the message.
Over the past years, the Institute has formed a safe educational haven, attracting hundreds of Jerusalemite students fleeing the danger of the Israelization of curricula in schools affiliated with the municipality of the occupation and the Israeli Ministry of Education.
Within its walls, these students find a free education that does not erase their memory nor distort their history, but rather reshapes their national and intellectual awareness with a Palestinian curriculum that strengthens belonging, reinforces identity, and plants in them the seeds of pride and knowledge.
The Arab Institute is not merely a school, but a second home and a support for families groaning under material and political burdens. The Institute has faced attempts to impose distorted curricula and has persisted with determination in teaching the Palestinian curriculum that strengthens belonging, reinforces identity, and plants in its students the seeds of pride and knowledge.
In its classrooms, a generation grows—one that knows its history, understands its present, and dreams of a free future.
The Arab Institute is not only an educational institution, but an act of resistance, a place of steadfastness, and a bridge of hope that extends from the present of Jerusalem to its future.
