Who We Are
A non-profit charitable association, established in Jerusalem with the aim of supporting and sustaining the Arab Institute in Jerusalem. It oversees the administrative and financial affairs of the Institute’s programs, ensuring their continuity and developing its educational, social, and housing services.
The idea of founding the Arab Institute Association began in 1957 with the formation of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute in brotherly Kuwait, for the purpose of caring for orphans, children of martyrs, refugees in need, the homeless, and those who had fallen into the depths of poverty—providing care that would enable them to become upright, productive citizens.
The city of Jerusalem was chosen as the headquarters of the Arab Institute Association, for its central position in the heart of the world, its status as the home of the holy sites, as an affirmation of its Arab identity, and as support for its steadfast people who defend the cause of Arabism and Islam.
The association supervises a distinguished educational school known as “The Arab Institute” in the town of Abu Dis, Jerusalem. It is a long-established educational institution that provides primary and secondary education to over 650 students. The Institute gives special attention to disadvantaged groups, particularly orphans, children of martyrs, prisoners’ children, and those with difficult social circumstances, who represent a significant proportion of its students.
The association also oversees a fully integrated shelter dedicated to caring for orphaned and needy students. It provides them with safe housing, food, clothing, as well as health, educational, and psychological care within a comprehensive educational environment that aims to ensure a dignified life and to develop their personalities academically and socially.
The association continues to play a vital role in securing the necessary financial resources for operating the institution, through outreach to benevolent individuals and supporting bodies, in order to ensure the sustainability of this humanitarian educational project, which carries an authentic mission of supporting education and steadfastness in Jerusalem.
