Friends of the Arab Institute Association in Jerusalem / Amman – Jordan

To preserve the progress of the Arab Institute in Jerusalem in fulfilling its educational and sheltering mission, and at the request of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute in Kuwait, it was agreed to establish the Friends of the Arab Institute Association in Jerusalem, based in Amman.
Date of Establishment: 15/2/1980

At the beginning of its work and activities, the association was headed by the late His Excellency Ruhi Al-Khatib, the former Mayor of Jerusalem, followed by His Excellency the late Hajj Zaki Al-Ghoul. The association is currently headed by His Excellency Rasmi Al-Malah.

The Friends of the Arab Institute in Jerusalem Association in Amman is registered with the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development as a charitable association under No. (544), dated 28 Rabi’ Al-Awwal 1400 AH, corresponding to February 15, 1980.

It is authorized and assigned by the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute in Kuwait to oversee and manage the affairs of the Arab Institute in Jerusalem.
His Excellency Brother Rasmi Al-Mallah President of the Association

The association aims, as stated in its bylaws, to achieve the following:

  • Supporting the Arab Institute in Jerusalem financially and morally to help it fulfil its responsibilities and achieve its mission in the best possible way.
  • Supporting all benevolent and generous efforts, both financially and morally, aimed at developing this Institute to become a scientific college that will serve as the core of a university in Jerusalem.

The association is pleased to present in this publication a summary of the establishment of this Institute, the stages of construction already completed, those remaining with their estimates, and the steps taken to transform it into a College of Sciences that will form the core of the Arab University in Jerusalem.

It also takes pleasure in expressing thanks and appreciation for the efforts and assistance of all those who have contributed to its establishment, support, and continued care.
The association hopes for the support of all—governments, institutions, and individuals—in assisting its mission to strengthen this Arab scientific foundation in the Holy City, to complete its buildings, and to provide higher levels of education for our sons and daughters, not only in Jerusalem and its surroundings, but throughout all the occupied parts of Palestine. May God grant success.

“And say, ‘Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers.’”
